“It was weird the way you could be friends with someone but not really know the ugly parts of their lives. We all had our secrets, I supposed.”

Despite what her name might suggest, Heart has zero interest in complicated romance. So when her brilliant plan to go to prom with a group of friends is disrupted by two surprise invites, Heart knows there’s only one drama-free solution: flip a coin.

Heads: The jock. He might spend all night staring at his ex or throw up in the limo, but how bad can her brother’s best friend really be?

Tails: The theater geek…with a secret. What could be better than a guy who shares all Heart’s interests–even if he wants to share all his feelings?

Heart’s simple coin flip has somehow given her the chance to live out both dates. But where her prom night ends up might be the most surprising thing of all…

3 of 5 stars to Ask Again Later by Liz Czukas

This book is frustrating! Okay, the reason for that might be some of the glowing reviews I read before starting this and also the cute blurb. I really thought I’d like this another look back at high school type of YA but it was just… annoying.

I think the heroine’s experiences affected me so much I actually shared her vexation throughout her prom mishaps, only I didn’t share her saccharine bliss by the end.

What really annoyed me to no end is Heart’s constant stupid decisions that led her to a craptastic night. She was okay pre-prom and mid-prom but when the night neared its end, she just got more annoying. And oh, Chase was right there with her.

Suffice to say, this book is not for me. 3 stars for me meaning I like it but I also dislike it. Haha. Sorry, I know that sounded confusing but I found out that I don’t have much patience for the foolish and immature things that most Young Adult novels have.
