BOOK 1: Hunting Lila
Book Rating: 4/5 stars ★★★★
“He who fears to suffer,
Suffers from fear..”
17-year-old Lila has two secrets she’s prepared to take to the grave. The first is that she can move things just by looking at them. The second is that she’s been in love with her brother’s best friend, Alex, since forever.
After a mugging exposes her unique ability, Lila decides to run to the only people she can trust—her brother and Alex. They live in Southern California where they work for a secret organization called The Unit, and Lila discovers that the two of them are hunting down the men who murdered her mother five years before. And that they’ve found them.
In a world where nothing and no one is quite as they seem, Lila quickly realizes that she is not alone—there are others out there just like her—people with special powers—and her mother’s killer is one of them…
BOOK 2: Losing Lila

“He smiled, a little smile, but the sight of it made my breathing speed up. “I’ve always needed you. For my entire life,’ I said in a whisper,’and I’m always going to need you.”
Alex and Lila are on the run, desperately trying to stay one step ahead of the Unit. While Alex is determined to keep Lila safe and her ability secret at any cost, Lila’s only thought is of finding a way back to California so she can rescue her brother and mother from the military base where they’re being held.
3 of 5 stars to Lila Series by Sarah Alderson
This series is so cute! I know when you hear the word, “Paranormal”, cute isn’t how you’ll describe it. But Lila is just that. A book with cute romance plus some kick-ass action and paranormal voodoo thrown in the mix. Now that may sound a little too chick lit-y but I love it nonetheless.
I adore the characters here. I love Lila even if she comes out a little immature and dependent. That’s okay with me because she’s just a teen and that’s how you expect them to act in real life, anyway. Alex is definitely a hot male lead. He’s the type of hero you’d want to be stuck on an island with because you know he can provide you with anything. Yes, he’s that reliable and resourceful. This book has loads of amazing characters as well. Jack, Lila’s brother, in particular caught my attention too. Out of all the characters, he’s the one who has suffered tremendously but he doesn’t let this get in the way. Even in his fight for justice, he realizes he may have been fighting at the wrong side. Poor him. Dear author, give him a break will you?
Anyway, I enjoyed reading this one. It’s never boring. It’s got loads of action, adventure and magic. It’s awesome. I may have rated the series 3 but it’s actually more of 3.5 as the average between the two books. According to many readers, Lila has still a long way to go. I can’t wait for the next book!
